Got back from a week long hiking trip in our beautiful Alberta mountains. First time bringing a hammock. My husband was quite sceptical on the whole thing as we are used to roughing it on the ground to save on pack weight. We were both amazed at the total weight. I know the weight is in it's description but it's another thing to hold it and KNOW that this was actually all that's too it! I did read the reviews of course prior to purchasing this product which I found very helpful. I probably would have bought this without the straps had it not been for Eric D's review. Straps work awesome, so easy to use.
Did have an incident with the hammock's netting resulting in some holes the first night. I do have to say however it was a result of first night's celebrations and nothing to do with the quality of the product. Drinking and hammocking do not mix, haha. I think the quality of the product kept the damage to a minimum and I was able to repair the netting the next day with fishing line. Netting held up great to the repair and now I just call it "having character" since the fishing line is green.
Did find a bit of slipping down towards the centre of the hammock, but small price to pay and only had to adjust a few times a night. I didn't even use the netting cord provided because of the previous review. I just used some 550 cord I had and it worked awesome. I was able to hang pretty much whatever I wanted from it without it drooping. Had my knife, flashlight and bear spray hanging from it and the pouch was perfect for holding my bear bang and the all important, chapstick, lol.
My husband had a nap in it once while on the trip and thought it was great. Seeing first hand it's quality and durability had him sold on buying his own before we were done our trip.
One thing I would say. Not recommended for stomach sleepers, lol.
Stay safe and have fun wherever nature takes you!
