Easy to setup and take down: I put it out in the backyard, start up the BBQ and have a relaxing afternoon. I suggest the Hammock Sock to make it even easier to pack up, even if you aren't keeping outdoors. (Posted on 4/13/12)

I have been using it as a bed replacement for about 3 weeks now. WHEN EVER I LAY IN IT I FALL RIGHT A SLEEP!! It is super comfortable. I'm very happy with it. (Posted on 3/10/12)

I've already bought a stand and hammock that I love, this one is meant for guests. The hammock itself is excellent, but the stand arrived with one of the sides crooked. Other stand was perfect, workmanship of this one was decent but not as good as the first I bought. Highly recommended product! (Posted on 2/18/12)

I bought this hammock for my sister as a gift and she absolutely loves it. Also the customer service was beyond exceptional. There was a delay that occurred in shipping that was beyond the control of the sales staff, but they went out of their way to be friendly and helpful, contacting fedex several times on my behalf and after promptly returning my initial phone call sent me several email updates while they tracked down the shipment.

Until I bought this hammock, I'd never slept in one. I ordered it because of the Swiss/French studies indicating that a hammock type bed results in deeper sleep.

Initially I could not fall asleep but I used it for relaxing and reading etc. Eventually I grew accustomed to accomodating myself in the hammock and was able to sleep. I have the hammock set up in my bedroom therefore I have the option of either sleeping in the hammock or my bed. Because of 5 herniated discs (low back, thoracic and neck), I need warmth. I wrap myself up in a silk duvet, then lie into the hammock, unfold the duvet and adjust everything. This arrangement makes me feel like I'm in a coccoon. I don't need to use a pillow because the hammock supports the neck very well.

I have no trouble explaining how comfortable it is to sleep in a hammock although to some it might sound somewhat odd, especially waking up in the hammock in the middle of the night: it is all mind and no body. The hammock is so comfortable that the consciousness of the body does not exist. There is no desire to move because there is no discomfort of any kind. I can fall asleep on my side or almost on my front so the hammock does not limit preferential sleep position. When I wake up, it's usually on my back, so the hammock does not prevent nocturnal movement.

Because the hammock provides a gentle stretch to the low back all night, there is no muscle stiffness on arising. Leg function is lithe. Breathing is better during sleep because the entire torso is at a slight upward angle. The only problem I had initially was with my legs. I needed to experiment with the tension settings until my legs are now almost flat and the feet are not elevated. The Mayan XL accomodates almost horizontal positions during sleep. The Brazilian hammock is much less 'elastic' in this regard.

The only nuisance about sleeping in the hammock is that getting out of it is a bit of a struggle. My rear end is only about 8 inches from the crossbeam. Standing up from the hammock is a challenge and I pull myself out by grabbing the upper part of the hammock near the strings. I realize though that the stand would have to be made much longer in order to provide the height I'd prefer. Ideally, the hammock should be hung from hooks in the walls but this is not an option.

When not in use by myself, the hammock provides an excellent 'ropes course' for the two kittens. I place a very large bolster cross-wise in the hammock and a blanket. When I'm not using the hammock for sleep, my kittens use it as a great place to play (initially I was worried that maybe they'd strangle, but the Mayan mesh is so loose, they can stick their heads through (hilarious) and even crawl through if they choose. The older cats nap in the hammock. Seems like everyone is enjoying it.

I tell some of my patients that I sleep in a hammock. We have pictures at work of the hammock set up in the waiting room with all the staff lying in it together. I kept the hammock in the waiting room for a day and the children of patients fell asleep during their parents' appointments. One little girl said "this is the most fun office". I wish I had room to keep a hammock in the waiting room fulltime.

The box arrived within 3 days. My two daughters curl up in it together to read books. It is easy enough to the assemble that we took it up to the cottage. The price was the best we could find after looking at several competitive sites... plus it's Canadian!

Note: The hammock is not left out when not in use and the hammock stand will be stored in the garage for the winter. (Posted on 10/6/11)
